Advanced Materials Development with emphasis on nanomaterials.

This division was created to carry out research in the area of advanced and functional materials development.  In particular, the peculiar and unique property of nano-materials opens up new opportunities in manufacturing and research. Nanotechnology will make possible the creation of new and advanced materials with greatly improved economic value.

Photovoltaic Cells Research.

The on-going R&D project aims partly to domesticate the technology and production of both conventional and unconventional solar cells and partly to exploit and improve on the alternatives provided by nanotechnology such as Dye Sensitised Solar Cells (DSSC), Quantum Dot Solar Cells , CZTS Solar cells and Perovskite Solar Cells. The overall focus of the research is on cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

Aesthetic and Functional Thin Film Coatings

Development and adaptation of the technology for the preparation of transparent conducting materials, for application in research, solar cell fabrication and as heat mirrors for photo-thermal energy conversion. The AMP group has developed and adapted various technologies for the implementation of thin film coatings of various semiconductors and metals for functional and aesthetic purposes.  Such coatings readily find applications, for instance, as heat mirrors, anti-static conductive coating on tiles and in the manufacture of waveguides, and mandrel.
